The Devils Half Acre

It was once said the Devil had the best tunes, however we would argue we have the best beers!

“The Devil's Halfacre" refers to the upper yard of Dublin Castle and got this nickname from Michael Collins after many of the 1798 rebels were tortured there since it’s inception in 1204 up until 1922 when the Irish state obtained independence. The name gained further notoriety when military rule of Ireland was controlled from Dublin castle. The yard of Dublin Castle was then known to locals as the Devils Half Acre. We first released this barrel aged beer in 2013 and you can see on the label we have included the map of where the Devils Half Acre is….a stones throw away from our original brew pub on parliament street – The Porterhouse Temple Bar , Ireland’s first brew pub.

Deep Mahogany in colour. Full bodied with a beautiful aroma of vanilla, hints of chocolate, toffee, and smoke on the nose. Flavour of dark fruits, toasted oak with cherry notes and a sweet malty finish. Drink this beer with caution or else prepare to be led seriously astray. Deceptively strong and smooth, this beer has subtle dark fruit notes with a little hint of chocolate & liquorice and with a generous hop character all of which has been enhanced by the 6 months ageing in whiskey casks.

Malts: Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Chocolate, Black, Smoked Malt, Carafa Malt.

Hops: Galena, Nugget, Amarillo, Mandarina Bavaria.

ABV: 11% IBUs: 52
